In 2015 I created The Grandparent Effect, a news site that documented the rising importance of grandparents in American families. I ran the site until 2020. It was featured by media outlets around the country, including Harvard Magazine, The New York Times, and National Public Radio. I wrote hundreds of stories for the site. Some of my favorites are below.

5 myths about grandparents that it's time to trash
Could your grandkids get by without you?
Could grandmas make the difference between life and death?
The best picture books about kids and their grandparents
Does how often you see your grandkids affect how long you live?
“Anne-Christine can rest easy now”
“This is not the way we thought our lives would be”
Calvin Trillin, grandfather: He babysits. He spoils. He turns the kids into movie stars.

In 2017 I was hired by Generations United and The Eisner Foundation to research and write a policy paper about dismantling age segregation. “I Need You, You Need Me: The Young, the Old, and What We Can Achieve Together” was released at this forum at the National Press Club.
